26 ème Jour - Kilomètre 9408 - Kaunas, Lituanie J'ai passe la matinee a essaye d'acheter une assurance europeenne pour le sidecar mais je ne peux le faire que en France ou le sidecar est immatricule. La solution etait d'acheter l'assurance sur internet. J'ai traverse la Letonie rapidement et je suis arrive en Lituanie que je voulais avoir traverse avant la nuit pour dormir en Pologne. Vers 19h je cherchais un hotel avant la frontiere mais ils etaient tous cher et sans internet en etat de marche. J'ai decide de continuer a rouler et de m'arreter juste avant la nuit pour mettre ma tente a la belle etoile. Un type (Marcius) m'a depasse en me faisant signe qu'il voulait que je m'arrete pour me parler "Je te suis sur ton site internet depuis 3 ans, j'ai adore ta viree sur le lac Baikal cet hiver...". Marcius m'a emmene juste avant la frontiere chez un copain a lui qui a un moto club ou je vais dormir ce soir ! Que le monde est devenu petit avec internet !

Day 26 - Mile 5942 - Kaunas, Lithuania

I spend the whole morning trying to buy a European insurance for the sidecar but I can only do it from France. The solution was to buy it by internet. Then I spend time finding a bank that you change my left over roubles. I went quickly through Latvia and wanted to cross Litthuania before the end of the day and sleep in Poland. At 7pm I started to look for a hotel, before the border, they were all expensive and without a working internet. i decided to keep riding an put the then last minute at dark. A guy (Marcius) passed me and show me he wanted me to stop to speak with me "I follow your web site for the last 3 years, I loved you ride on lake Baïkal last winter..." He took me to a friend of him who run a moto club just before the Poland border where I will sleep tonight ! What a small world internet does !!!

Rider On The Storm - Pretty wet out there, non? And a lot of work on the bike, ausi! But not to worry - I'm sure that you and Giorgio will have plenty of time to screw up all the work the boys in Irbit did on the sidecar (ha-ha)! I am very happy that you are back in Europe and that both you and the bike need only minor surgery!! Smile, my friend, because a gigantic mushroom omelette in a field has to be one of life's great pleasures! Miss you! Stay dry, safe, and have fun!

Claire a raison, il faut faire enlever ton écharde sinon gros risque d'infection et arrêt du voyage pour un moment.
J'ai eu à Paris une opération avec anesthèsis générale (bon là, le chirurgien a un peu chargé) pour une épine dorsale de daurade (délicieuse) plantée sous l'ongle.

we've met in guesthouse Oasis in Ulaanbaator last july; we came with an ambulance flight cause I've crashed my sidecar in the Gobi desert. The insurance company is bringing my bike (Yamaha 750 super Ténéré with sidecar)back home, so I can prepare it for the next tour.
You are doing great, I follow you through your beautiful side! Is the Ural still going strong?
In a couple of weeks my new leg prothese is ready and, if the Yamaha is back, we'll soon be ready to go back to Mongolia!
Have a happy and safe trip around the world, you're always welcome in my place for a meal and a place to sleep, and maybe, one day I might meet you again!

Je voulais simplement te dire que tu ne devrais pas rester avec cette écharde sous ton ongle ! comme tu ne peux pas l'enlever va voir un médecin, surtout si tu as mal, tu risques de faire une SUPER INFECTION !!!!
Je te dis cela car c'est arrivé à mon fils et je ne te dit pas ce qu'il a dégusté parce qu'il avait trop attendu ! le toubib lui a carrément ouvert le bout de son doigt car il y avait plein de pus et mon fiston qui n'est pas du genre "douillé" à hurler de douleur !!! et moi je pleurais à côté, comme d'habitude!!!!!!!

Pour ce qui concerne la traversée de l'Ukraine. Je n'avais pas rencontré trop de problèmes. Mis à part les problèmes de frontières et effectivement les policiers vereux. Mais bon, tu connais l'Asie centrale, c'est le meme topo.
J'ai jamais filé un bakchich, mais oui, je sais que certains voyageurs en ont payés.

je te deconseille egalement l'ukraine tout simplement a cause de sa police "véreuse".
avec roro nous y sommes passés en revenant de Russie, la galère , arreté a tous les controles et obligé de donner des back chiches assez important( jusqu'à 100 euros).

Why replace the rear bearing plate, it only holds the rear bearing? Just replace the Bearing?

Was that a camshaft I saw in the box of replaced parts? Why replace it?? New cam configuration???

I like that palatalized engine stand. It shows good versatility. I am thinking of using some of the ideas from it to make a simplified stand for personal use.

Hubert, I traveled through the Ukrane the summer of 2008 on a motorcycle and the only reason that I can think of for not crossing through is that the police are VERY corrupt and will stop you for anything that they can think of to try and get a bribe.

J'adore tes reportages sur l'usine d'Irbit. Tu sembles naviguer dans tous les ateliers comme un poisson dans l'eau. Et ta moto sera aux petits oignons. J'aimerai bien faire un stage avec Dimitri, ce garçon semble bien précieux.

My computer is not starting up, i arrived too late at to have dinner with Oleg, we will have breakfast together tomorrow morning. I had a couple of bugs on my way here. The electric problem on the position light persisted and I finally found the guilty exposed wire on the frame. The other problem is that I runed out of gas in the carbs with 1.5 gallon still in the gas tank !!!
I will take the road tomorrow morning after my breakfast with Oleg.

Mon computeur ne demarre pas. Je suis arrive trop tard a Ekaterinburg pour diner avec Oleg, on va donc petit dejeuner ensemble demain matin. Mon probleme de feu de position persistait sur la route et j'ai finalement trouve le fil coupable qui etait expose sur le chassis. Par contre les carbus sont en rade d'essence avec 5 litres dans le reservoir.
Je prendrais la route demain matin apres mon petit dejeuner avec oled.

There is a historic location there in Yekaterinburg and a new church has been built upon it. The site of which I speak is the location of the Czar Nicholas Romanov (and family's) execution.
I believe it is "The Church of the Blood".

I heard from dad! He is doing well. He just arrived at the Ural Factory. His computer is broken as of 5 days ago, and he hasn't heard about the fires or seen anything. He gave me this message to post:

The sidecar "Purred" me the 3530 miles between Ulaanbaatar and Irbit.
My computer is dead, but I will try to post in the blablablog the update on the ride.
Dimitry is already working on the little maintenance on my bike and I will have dinner with Iliya the president/owner of Ural who lives in Seattle.
Life is pretty good, I will take 2 days to relax.

Our journey back went fine. Simon is still on his way back home but should arrive to England soon. There were some small problems with bikes but nothing serious. There will be ride report of our journey in ADV Forums

I hope you get in the U.S. the latest news on fires that threaten tonight Ural nuclear sites, and you are in contact with Hubert to inform it about.
This information comes from official circles in Russia. When you know that they are always still slow before announcing major disaster, it would be prudent to advise Hubert to stay in Mongolia some time or return to France by plane.

Perhaps Hubert should get another oil reservoir air cleaner to breath through.(?)
The air looks pretty bad in the Fire Zone and parts nearby.

Le magazine Le Monde 2 fait un article sur les "nouveaux aventutiers" je me suis dit qu'il manquait quelqu'un mais tu rattraperas cela avec ton livre à venir.
Ton discours sur le dentier est très touchant dans ce contexte d'Aventure. Les grands espaces montrent parfois les choses essentielles tout près de soi. Nos dents sont un capital rare à préserver avec amour et raison. 25 $ c'est vraiment super, merci à Gana.
